Radiohead – In Rainbows – weird fishes…

ok, so a couple days after the surprise release, and around 7 plays through the album, I’m starting to get a good feel for the album. With toned down glitchy electronics, and emotional fragility throughout, it seems to sit somewhere between the bends & Kid A. Apparently it’s sold around 1.2 million downloads to date, or at least that’s what the grapevine says… no wonder their servers have been down a couple times this week ;p
So far tracks have either been instant hits with me (like ‘Weird Fishes_arpreggi’ & ‘Bodysnatchers’ & ‘Videotape’), or have grown on me the last couple listens (‘Nude’, ‘Reckoner’ & ’15 step’). But one track ‘Faust Arp’ hasn’t had the same effect- The chorus and outro are really nice, but the verses really grind on me, to the point where I’ve already started skipping it.
This got me thinking about artist albums that don’t have a bad track (or a track week enough to skip).. I can only think of two off the top of my head..
- Radiohead – OK Computer (no surprises there then
- Bonobo – Animal Magic

Also, heard Jonny Greenwood has scored a soundtrack for Paul Thomas Anderson’s new film “There Will Be Blood”, scheduled for release 8 February 2008 (UK), but apparently the soundtrack is to be released December 18, prior to the film’s release
