XP Hard Disk Crash… and I’m back!

Well that was a fun week…

I offered to fix a mates system as she couldn’t get hers to boot up, and suddenly I find my system poops out too! After sorting hers I’ve spent the last 24 hours getting mine back up and running, installing drivers, software & finally beginning to configure the software again.. (If you’ve been through this cack before, you’ll now how much it sucks)…

So yeah, I’m back up and running, and will be spending most of today installing software.. and then maybe I can think about recording some music? who knows?!!

While I’m on, I came across a site that has a load of mixsets free for download if you’re interested.
The guy has all kinds of dance music up here.. some of which make good background music for fixing computers and stuff :P
Anyhoo, check it out > the site is linkset.blogspot.com

Today, I feel I will be a happy banana..

no more music – hard drive failure… oh god..

ok, so last night I heard the sound a popup makes when it’s been blocked.. which was weird, as I had no browser windows open.
After doing a quick check everything seemed ok for a while. Then the noise comes again, this time 4 or 5 times in a row. I check my firewall and for some strange reason it had been disabled.. nice…

I try to run Spybot and a couple other apps, and realise my Spybot executable file was missing.. to which I though.. “odd”.
I d/l a new copy of spybot S&D, and again, the executable file isn’t there.. so I figure at this point.. “hmmm.. maybe this is a virus.. hmm”

I do a couple scans, schedule chkdsk to run on reboot on all drives, and tell it start up in /Safemode so I can install spybot and scan the sh*t out of my system.. finally, I click RESTART.

At this point, all would have been fine, if infact my system DID restart, but I was greeted with the infamous Blue Sceen Of Death (an old friend ;) ) and a major system crash. Anyway, to cut a long story short, I somehow got stuck in a boot loop.. damn those rigid boot loops to smelly hell :(

So, as I planned to put a couple blog posts up this weekend with some audio snippits, I can see this might not end up happening right yet.. so instead.. I’ve setup another system, and will more than likely be doing the whole FORMAT/REINSTALL/SETUP of system and all apps… man I hate that!

Seriously, every 8 months or so, I end up doing a full format and re-installing everything, and THEN setting it all back up again. It’d be great if there was an online service that shadowed your HD and all it’s settings, that would rock!

* not to self, develop said service…

so, to wrap it up… … if I were a banana, I’d be an angry banana..
